Honours Beyond the New Year

As soon as you step into the clubhouse, you’ll see the honours boards: recognition of players and officials whose service to the club has stood out.

You may not know that the names on these boards are voted for by the club members, rather than being decided by the committee. For this reason, seeing your name in gold means that little bit more.

You’ll need to ask the players, current and old boys alike, for a full rundown on the legends etched there. But, the list of reasons ranges from stand-out captains, through tireless management to simply being the one who woke up early every Sunday morning to clear up the mess from the night before.

Northolt RFC is run by volunteers. The bar, the finances, the upkeep of the building and grounds, everything is done by its members. That’s what makes it so special and makes it somewhere where, if you’re willing to do your little bit, you’ll always find a home.
